It dries well with minimum degrade and little movement in performance.

Elm is a hardwood because it is a deciduous tree meaning it loses its leaves every year. The most basic division of elm species is between hard and soft elm. The wood of red elm is fairly easy to work. They change color and lose their leaves in the fall making them a hardwood tree.
